What are your driving habits? What are the longest distances you will be traveling? When driving a pure electric vehicle; if the battery runs out completely with no charging stations available you will be stranded. With the long charge times, it will take some time to make the vehicle usable again. This is where the extended range lithium battery stocks Volt becomes more practical. Filling up the gas tank is faster than waiting for the battery to charge.
Nonetheless, the Volt is not something in GM's immediate plans. The idea for the Volt would require that a cost efficient 400-lb lithium-ion battery be found. lithium facts-ion batteries of this size are not currently available. Further advances in battery technology would be required to allow GM to consider making the Volt a production car. These are enhancements that could occur in as little as a year, or as many as 20 years. GM has stated that they feel the technology is almost there, yet a vehicle like this is probably about a decade away.
There are some concerns when it comes to these high powered batteries and how good they are for the environment. But all hybrid batteries are set to be recycled (Toyota has a $200 bounty on each battery pack), and so unlike some lead batteries from conventional cars, they shouldn't end up in landfills.
Remember how the old batteries would start to wind down before they quit totally? Well, the new Li-ion batteries don't do that. They have the same power when drilling the last screw as they did when drilling the first screw. That seemed amazing to me but I found lithium bettery stock it to be true.

Once I used the 18v model I found that I prefer to use it more often because it gives me more power to complete the same task with less effort. At the end of the day it is better and faster, productivity counts.
For jobs where the batteries are required to be light weight as well as being reusable, then lithium batteries are ideal. But if a battery is needed to be very reliable or to remain unused for a long time then they might not be the right batteries for it.
